4 MINS READIn the mid-2010s, India saw a flurry of bike taxi apps attempting to recreate the success of Uber and Ola in the cab-hailing space. Today, only Rapido is left standing.
When Rapido was on the come-up, the bike-taxi space was a nebulous one to navigate since the legality of bike taxis itself was unclear. While states like Punjab, Telangana, Gujarat, Haryana, and Goa have made provisions for bike taxis over the years, most others do not have any legal framework in place. Consequently, the yellow licence plates required for all commercial vehicles in the country have been difficult to secure.
