For most of the past decade, an Indian founder who wanted money to fix something about farming made the first call to Omnivore. Mark Kahn and Jinesh Shah started the firm in 2010, when few investors in Mumbai could say what an agritech company was, and it has since backed DeHaat, Stellapps, Arya.ag and Pixxel. It also sat through the entire cycle: the years when every fund wanted an agritech logo on its website, and the years after, when the question moved from when India would get its first agritech unicorn to whether the sector would survive at all.
