From smart locks to mixer grinders and water purifiers, Atomberg is expanding beyond fans as it seeks to become a home appliance platform. Will it work?

After foraying into ceiling fans in 2015, Atomberg Technologies took four years to sell 100,000 units. Five years later, cumulative sales had crossed 10 million. By that time, it had made a name for itself with Brushless Direct Current (BLDC) fans, which, compared to those running on traditional induction motors, cost more but promise a much lower cost of ownership. Atomberg’s rise also coincided with India’s regulatory push towards more energy-efficient appliances.
