The National Payments Corporation of India is building a technology platform that will allow startups to test their fintech software integrations before taking them live. But that’s not what this is just about.

After more than a decade as India’s flagship payments platform, NPCI is bracing for competition from the likes of Google, Amazon, and Facebook that, according to reports, want to launch similar frameworks called ‘New Umbrella Entities’.
