Having battled it out in the food delivery space for the better part of the last decade, Zomato and Swiggy are now set to square off in the dine-out segment as well.
Swiggy’s foray into the dine-out world comes in the form of Dineout, which it acquired from Times Internet in a $120-125 million mostly-stock deal (We wrote about the deal and its potential here). The service is being bundled with Swiggy’s existing subscription play, Swiggy One.
Zomato, meanwhile, hopes to hold its own with a new offering of its own—Zomato Pay.
