It's been a whole year since Masayoshi Son, SoftBank’s head honcho, handled the company’s post-earnings presentation. For Yoshimitsu Goto, SoftBank's CFO who has taken on the responsibility, filling the shoes of the iconic Son is an unenviable task.

The company’s earning call on Thursday, however, would have been particularly difficult, especially after WeWork—inarguably one of SoftBank’s biggest bets—filed for bankruptcy earlier in the week.
