Back in school, I discovered Shakespeare by accident. It was summer vacation, grade 7 or 8, and I couldn’t get enough comic books. One evening, rummaging through the pile of Diamond and Raj Comics at my regular vendor, I noticed an old book in one corner: a copy of Tales from Shakespeare by Charles and Mary Lamb. It was the Bard’s photo on the cover that pulled me. I spent the equivalent of renting fifty comic books to buy it. That summer, I read Shakespeare for the first time. I bragged about it for years.
